Specific wavelengths of light from IPL can target both finer and coarser hair as well as lighter colored hair on most skin types.

Laser Light is for selected individuals...It is effective on hair that contains dark pigment. It is not effective on white, blonde, or red hair. Very dark skinned individuals are not candidates. If you also have white hair on the area to be treated, electrolysis is the only solution.

DO NOT BE MISLEAD...If a hair is white or blond, terminal and big enough to be tweezed, it must have some pigment in it, in order for the light source to be attracted to it. The pigment in the hair and the pigment found deeper in the hair follicle allows enough thermo injury to occur, damaging the source of the growth and preventing future regrowth. White hairs also tend to be deeper and stronger than a hair with pigment. TREATING A HAIR AND MAKING IT FALL OUT vs. PERMANENTLY DESTROYING THE SOURCE OF GROWTH ARE NOT THE SAME.

Safety Tips
When considering light-based hair removal, Skinfluentials recommends the following tips:

• Seek out a licensed professional with appropriate training. Electrologists are the only professionals licensed to perform permanent hair removal with over 1100 hours of training. To perform laser light hair removal, advanced training is required. Both modalities are often required to totally complete the task.
• Ask about the number of hair removal cases they have performed. It is the skill of the operator that determines the success of the treatments.
• Request to see before and after photographs of treated patients.
• Ensure they are available for follow-up care and treatments. How long have they been offering these services? Will they still be available to complete your series of treatments when their laser lease or office lease expires? Some providers lease the equipment for a limited time and often opt to not renew the lease when it expires, leaving the patient/clients without treatment availability.
• Make sure treatment is administered in a clean, private and professional setting.
• Expect a thorough consultation detailing how it works, what you can expect from treatments, determining how suitable you are for safe and successful treatments, and what the cost will be. If your skin tone is on the darker side, expect a test patch to be performed. A maintenance program should be available.
